Spring holiday in the Zillertal
Spring holiday in the Zillertal valley in Tyrol
When the meadows in the valley turn green and winter still reigns high up on the glacier, what is perhaps the most beautiful time of the year begins in the Zillertal. A spring holiday in the Zillertal brings together what is otherwise kept apart: skiing in the sunshine in the morning, followed by your first hike in the afternoon.
Between Easter and early summer, the Tux Valley is quieter than in the peak season. Long sunny days, clear air and plenty of space on the slopes and trails make these weeks particularly special for anyone who wants to experience the mountains without the hustle and bustle.
Hintertux Glacier
The Hintertux Glacier is situated at the end of the Tux Valley and is the only glacier in Austria that guarantees snow all year round. It covers around 57 km² and reaches altitudes of over 3,000 metres.
Particularly in spring, whilst other ski resorts are winding down for the season, perfectly groomed slopes are still open here. The glacier is about 7 kilometres from the hotel. Thanks to its high altitude, the snow up there remains firm underfoot, even when the sun is already high in the sky and the days are long.
Anyone wishing to combine skiing with spring will find both here in one place.
Places to visit in spring
Spring in the Zillertal has many facets, and not every day is sunny. For those times, the region offers destinations that are impressive whatever the weather.
One of the highlights is the Natur Eis Palast on the Hintertux Glacier, a fascinating world of ice and snow inside the glacier. Another adventure awaits you in the Spannagel Cave, one of the largest caves in the Central Alps, which offers fascinating insights into the interior of the mountains. And after your excursion, the indoor pool awaits you at the hotel.
